GS For The World #3:
Zero Waste, Empty Plates

Date: 10th – 14th April 2023

Environment Division organized an initiative to share the importance of proper food waste management with students, focusing particularly on reducing waste and waste separation. The goal was to promote sustainable methods for eliminating food waste through composting and waste separation.

This initiative aims to instill the values of greener schools, helping to develop intervention strategies that enhance the sustainability of school operations. By educating students on these practices, we can pave the way for a more environmentally conscious and sustainable future.

Second Life: Children Book Donation

Date: 10th – 14th April 2023

The Good Society IIUM under the Environment Division launched a donation drive accepting children’s books only. The objective of this donation is to foster a love for reading and support the educational development of the students of Jaringan Islam Global Masa Depan.

The donated books were then distributed during GS For The World #2: Hope for the Future. It is believed that these books will inspire and empower the students, fostering a brighter and more hopeful future for them.

Iftar Under the Stars X Earth Hour

Date: 25 March 2023

With great efforts from the Environment Division of Good Society, on the 25th March more than 30 members of GS family had gathered to celebrate Earth hour to bring awareness on current environmental issues.

In addition to celebrating Earth hour, GS family also enjoyed a time of bonding under the stars through iftar.

It was truly an educational yet, delightful experience for everyone ✨

Short Video Competition on Climate Crisis

Date: 15th December 2022 – 29th December 2022

World Futures Day highlights the universality of human anticipatory activities, nurtures collective intelligence processes, promotes and increases the research of futures thinking and its application in different contexts (UNESCO, 2022). 

This Climate Crisis Short Video Competition is a national-level event that will be conducted under the theme of ‘No Planet B: Youth Action for Climate Crisis’. This event serves as a platform that encourages children and young people across the country to share their unique perspectives and analyses on climate action through storytelling. It aims to foster one’s creative, imaginative, and critical thinking in reflecting on the present states of the planet and inspiring action for a better future that favours sustainability and well-being.

GS Food Garden

This is where the community come together to both contribute and gain so many benefits, be it skills, income or fresh produce.
