Who We Are
The Academic Staff Association of International Islamic University Malaysia (ASA IUM) is a dedicated organization committed to representing the interests and welfare of the academic staff at IIUM. ASA IUM serves as a vital platform for academic professionals to voice their concerns, collaborate on issues of common interest, and engage in meaningful dialogue with the university administration and students.
ASA IIUM represents approximately 553 (as of July 2024) academic staff at all IIUM campuses. ASA IIUM is a proud member of the Pergerakan Tenaga Akademik Malaysia (GERAK).
Our Mission
Our mission is to support and advocate for the rights of our members while fostering an enriching academic environment at IIUM. We strive to ensure that our academic staff have the resources, opportunities, and working conditions necessary to excel in their roles. Through active engagement and constructive dialogue, we aim to contribute to the overall development and governance of the university.
What We Do
- Advocacy: We work tirelessly to represent the interests of academic staff on issues such as salary scales, working conditions, job security, and professional development.
- Support: ASA IUM provides support to our members through various initiatives, including professional development programs, workshops, and seminars.
- Collaboration: We foster a collaborative environment by facilitating open communication between academic staff and university administration, ensuring that faculty concerns and suggestions are addressed effectively.
- Development: We advocate for policies and practices that enhance the academic experience, including research opportunities, academic freedom, and faculty participation in decision-making processes.
